WS1901 - Discover Northern Tasmania

On this workshop you will get photograph rarely seen parts of the wild north-western parts of remote Tasmanian wildness.  Starting from Sydney, we fly to Launceston, TAS, then drive navigating through the farming country of the north west, through the old settlements to Stanley, then head south down the rugged western coastline via Arthur river to Corinna, Zeehan, then inland to the spectaclular Cardle Mountain before completing the round trip back to Launceston and Sydney.

ITINERARY

DAY 1.   We fly from Sydney to Launceston, arrive late in the afternoon, gather our gear and collect our 4x4 and drive to our accomodation not far from the Launceston Airport, we will settle in and have a meet and greet session, drinks & meal before retiring for the evening.

DAY 2.   Up early this morning to drive to Stanley, on the North-West tip of Tasmania, we will drive about 250klms, photographing along the way the landmarks, tulip farms, lighthouses. 

DAY 3.   We set of from Stanley to Arthur River, via Smithtown and Wa

DAY 4 & 5.   After shooting a sunrise at Arthur River we will move on to Corinna a very remote town on the Pieman River, this is where we will stay for the next two days. We arrive at Corinna in time to check-in and shoot our first sunset, the following day we will venture out in our privately hired boat to capture the early morning fog and sunrise on the Pieman River, followed by a Sunset shoot out at the mouth of the River where it drains into the ocean.

DAY 6, 7 & 8.   We leave Corinna catching the barge accross the river and further venture South to Zeehan, where we will have lunch, then we turn inland and head North-East to Cradle Mountain, this is where we will spend the next three days shooting the magnificient scenery, flora & fauna.

DAY 9.   We will now leave for Launceston, we will visit waterfalls & a zoo, to shoot some Kangaroos, Tasmanian Devils, before flying back to Sydney, we arrive at our Hotel in the heart of Sydney near Circular Quay, having enought time to capture two the the modern wonders of the world, the Sydney Opera House & Harbor Bridge.  Our workshop ends here, so cheers to all, I know that you will be exhausted and elated by the wonders of Discovering Northern Tasmania.

The order of the above events in our Itinery may chage due to the weather & tides, so treat it as a guide to what we will be doing on the Island, we reserve the right to change the program to suit the conditions on the day.

POINTS OF INTEREST

Here are some of the Points of Interest that can be photographed on the Island, whilst some are weather & tide dependant, there are so many options, we probably won't be able to get to shoot them all but we will try our best, and it will give you an idea of what is there;

Tangalooma Wrecks, North Point Rocks & Beaches, Honeymoon Bay, Cape Moreton Lighthouse, Yellow Patch, Eastern Beach sunrises, Blue Lagoon, The Desert, Wildlife & Wildflowers, Sand Dunes, Mud Flats, Mangroves, Crab Island sunsets,The Hulk Wrecks, South Beach Trees, Middle Road, Grass Trees,Nightscapes & Startrails, Bulwer Wrecks, Moreton Bay sunsets, and if we are lucky thunderstorms also over Moreton Bay.

INCLUSIONS

All Flights from Sydney to Launcesto return, all meals for the duration of the workshop, all transport & fuel provided in our four wheel drives in Tasmania, All Accomodation, all tutition provided to participants is included.

EXCLUSIONS

No transport to and from Sydney Airport, no alcoholic drinks, indemnity & liability insurance, internet connection is not provided but may be shared between all participants,

CAMERA GEAR:   Your DLSR Camera, Fully charged camera batteries & chargers, Sturdy Tripod, Memory cards, Cable release, cleaning rags, Lenses (Wide to Long) and Filters to fit, headlamp & or torch, suggest CPL & Long Exposure Filters, big stopper or equivalent), Camera Bag, Pen & Paper, suggest power board if you have more than one electrical item to be plugged in, Your digital SLR Instruction Manual
COMPUTER GEAR:   Laptop & Charger, 1 x External Backup HDD, SD/CF Card reader
SUGGESTED SOFTWARE:   Lightroom, Photoshop, Capture One
